bullet Hello all,

In case anyone hasn't heard about our on-going fundraising program for individual Scouts to earn money for Scout activities, here is a brief explanation. We are able to buy Gift Cards from Kroger for 5% off face value, then sell them for face value. The money earned from these sales is kept segregated in our Troop account for the Scout doing the selling. In other words, if a Scout sells a $100 gift card, he earns $5 to be used for Scout related activities, such as Dues, camping trips, summer camp, or even Eagle projects. We have a few Scouts who have already earned nearly $100 to go toward their Scout activities. That can make a real difference in your household budget! Buy them for your own grocery shopping, and sell them to friends and family members, too. It is my understanding that you can use them for gas purchases, but you have to get the amount of purchase deducted at the pay window before pumping your gas.

Currently, we have a large amount of funds outstanding for Summer Camp registrations and other things, so we need to do a pre-pay order this time.

At the Troop meeting next Monday April 18th, I will be collecting checks from anyone wishing to purchase cards. We will place the order on Tuesday and will have the cards to distribute at the April 25th Troop meeting.

Remember to bring your checkbook Monday!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the program.

A Scout is thrifty,

Ron Raymond

bullet Hi Troop 141,

As you are aware, the troop receives money for the newspapers that are deposited in the recycle bin at the church.  SP Recycling, the company that runs this program has changed what can be put into the bin so now you can put more in the bins instead of throwing it away. I have seen flags so worn that they no longer fit to serve as a symbol of our country.

I'm starting a campaign to collect worn and damaged flags so they can be retired in

a dignified manner.  For more information contact Victor Peņa at victorsp@aol.com

More information about displaying the flag can be found at
